I own all the Shins albums on vinyl – except Wincing the Night Away. I think I burned out on it, and haven’t really listened to it in the last two months. Yet, if I hear one more person tell me that the Shins are boring, I am going to do some physical damage.
This morning, I hear this alternate version of the opening track “Sleeping Lessons” – and I think I am ready to come back to it. Dang, this song kills.

On another note: I bought the Azeda Booth EP at MegaTunes yesterday. It was cheap, and the packaging is frigging amazing. The music itself? There are only two songs with singing – “Landscape” and “Dead Girls” (both of which you can hear on their Myspace page), and the rest is slightly boring ambient electronic music. I LOVE the vocals, and want MORE more more, so if you see this, pick it up. Further: come see them play in Lethbridge on April 22 at the Tongue and Groove (with Square Waves!)

April 21 you mean.
You also made a mistake with the date in the lethbridge LJ.
Not that I’m keeping track or anything.
Hey Prof Pauly… Long time, no see. I do not intend to piss you off with this comment (and could remain silent but I won’t)… the only thing that comes to mind when I listen to “Sleeping Lessons” is the word “pretentious.” I am reminded once again of how vast the divide is between each of our respective musical tastes. I actually chuckled out loud a little. I can only imagine what comes to mind when you hear the song “Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy.” Ah well. At least we can bond over Actor Network Theory. There is always that.
